As the seasons begin to shift, it’s the perfect time to start thinking about your fall and holiday photo sessions. Whether you’re hoping for soft golden light among the leaves or a festive setup to celebrate the season, a little planning can go a long way.
Here are a few helpful tips to make your session feel relaxed, meaningful, and truly special—no matter which season you choose.
Each season has its own charm.
Fall sessions are all about warmth, natural light, and those beautiful, earthy tones that look good on everyone. They’re perfect for updated family portraits, milestone moments, or simply celebrating the season of change.
Holiday sessions, on the other hand, bring in a little magic—twinkle lights, festive touches, and a joyful energy that makes them a client favorite year after year. These photos are often used for holiday cards, gifts, or just as a way to mark the spirit of the season.
If you’re torn, you truly can’t go wrong. Many families choose to do both—and we always make each session unique to you.
This year, I’ll be taking some time off for a bit of rest and creative renewal. That means Fall Minis are only available in October, and Holiday Minis will take place in early November.
Booking early gives you the best choice of dates and helps everything feel a little more peaceful—no last-minute scrambling for outfits or card deadlines. Plus, your gallery will be ready with time to spare.
Keep an eye on your inbox—Christmas Minis will be announced to newsletter subscribers first on September 19th.
One of the most common questions I get is, “What should we wear?” My best advice: keep it simple and comfortable. For fall sessions, think warm neutrals, soft layers, and natural textures. For holiday photos, classic colors like deep greens, creams, and cozy knits photograph beautifully.
Coordinating is great—but there’s no need to match perfectly. The goal is to feel like yourselves, just a little polished.
If you’re bringing little ones (or even teens), a relaxed and positive attitude makes all the difference. Let them know this is a fun time to be together—not a formal or stiff photo shoot. I keep things lighthearted and easy, with gentle guidance and plenty of patience.
And if things don’t go exactly as planned? That’s okay. Some of the most memorable images come from real, unscripted moments.
Each session is about more than just taking pictures—it’s about preserving the feeling of this season in your life. Whether it’s your baby’s first fall, a new family tradition, or simply a moment to slow down and be together, we’ll create images that reflect your story with honesty and heart.
I can’t wait to see so many of you this season. These sessions always fill quickly, so if fall or holiday photos are on your list, don’t wait too long to reserve your date.
And as always, thank you for trusting me with your family’s memories. It’s an honor I don’t take lightly.
