Why Photo Sessions Make the Best Gifts Ever
It’s the season of giving! While there’s nothing quite like a pile of presents under the tree, nowadays more and more families are opting for less than materialistic kinds of gifts for several reasons.
I’m a fan of the phrase “It’s the thought that counts” and nothing says thoughtful quite like photography. If you’re still not sure whether or not to consider getting professional photos taken, then you need to read this. Here’s why photo sessions make the best gifts ever, whether or not it’s the holiday season.
For the mom or dad who has everything
Don’t you hate it when you find that perfect gift in the store, and then when they open it they say, “Oh, I already have this.”? I know some moms and dads are really tough to get gifts for! They may have everything they need in their life, both the materialistic and the non.
Photo sessions as a gift idea for the mom or dad who has everything is a wonderful idea for so many reasons. For one, the best kind of gift you can give them is time spent with them (and it’s very likely that’s all they want!). For another, it may have been years (think over 5, or 10, etc.) since the last time you were all in a photograph together. Why not celebrate your hard-to-shop-for loved ones with a gift they can enjoy for years after the fact?
Great for grandparents
Some grandparents are pretty hard to shop for too! Honestly, most of the elderly I’ve spoken to have always said that their favourite moments in life are when they spent it with their children and grandchildren. If you’re a parent, you can show your mom and dad how much the kids have grown and that they’re healthy and happy after the photo session has been done. For grandchildren, having a photo session with their grandparents can be a fun day for everyone involved! Grandparents get to spoil the kids rotten (as they should!), and the kids will be extra excited—you never know, it could make for some interesting photo ops!
When people visit from out of town
Someone’s presence can be gift enough! Why not add to that extra sense of joy by having your loved ones from out of town join in with your photo session? If you only get to see your best friend, spouse, or grandparents every so often due to long-distance reasons, you can cherish the time you spend together while knowing you’ll be able to reflect on it and have that rejuvenating sense of joy all over again.
A gift full of priceless memories
I know this sounds like a broken record at this point, but it’s true: your presence to some is gift enough. For those who can’t have your presence all of the time, even though they may want to, a photograph may be just enough. Perhaps an album of the photo session will make the gift even nicer?
